An American brand launched in 1913 by R.J. Reynolds, and the cigarette that effectively created the modern mass market. Its blend was the innovation — a mix of Virginia and Turkish tobaccos rather than a single type, which gave it a distinctly sweeter, more aromatic character than its contemporaries.
That American blend style became the global default. Camel is owned by R.J. Reynolds in the United States and by Japan Tobacco International elsewhere.
Availability in Canada
Inconsistent. Canadian shelf space is dominated by a small number of domestic brands, and Camel has never been a fixture. Where it appears it tends to be limited stock at import pricing.
