Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory sits on the Bay of Quinte, east of Belleville and just west of Deseronto. It’s the main reserve of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte, settled in 1784, and one of the largest First Nations territories in Ontario at roughly 18,000 acres.
According to the community’s own history, Tyendinaga is the birthplace of the Great Peacemaker, who brought the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga and Seneca together into the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.
It’s a real option — closer than almost any other Ontario city’s nearest native retail. Whether the drive is worth it depends on how much you’re buying. An hour and a half round trip plus fuel, against a $25 flat-rate delivery.
