What Gitanes is
A French brand introduced in 1910, built on dark caporal tobacco. The name means “gypsy women,” and the pack — a dancer in silhouette against blue smoke — is among the most recognised cigarette designs ever made.
Gitanes sat alongside Gauloises as the two pillars of French smoking culture, with Gitanes generally regarded as the stronger and more uncompromising of the two. It’s owned today by Imperial Brands.
Availability in Canada
Not sold here. Dark tobacco has no Canadian market, and the regulatory and tax environment rules out niche imports.
